Summary : Fluent Bit is a widely used opensource tool for collecting and forwarding logs in cloud and containers like Kubernetes environments. A chain of 5 critical vulnerabilities discovered by Oligo Security team and findings reveal that attackers can misuse via Remote code execution putting cloud and container at risk.

Overview 

These vulnerabilities are CVE-2025-12977  CVE-2025-12970, CVE-2025-12969, CVE-2025-12978 , CVE-2025-12972. The vulnerabilities allow attackers to bypass authentication, manipulate log routing, achieve remote code execution, potentially leading to full compromise of cloud and Kubernetes environments using Fluent Bit for logging and observability.

Technical Summary 

Fluent Bit vulnerabilities center around unsafe handling of tags and inputs, enabling attackers to manipulate routing, file paths and memory in ways that directly impact host systems and downstream security tooling.

These flaws can allow path traversal and arbitrary file writes, which in many real-world setups may escalate to remote code execution and persistent node compromise.

Additional vulnerabilities include stack buffer overflows and missing authentication checks that let attackers crash agents, execute code and inject false telemetry into trusted logging pipelines.

Remediation

  • Upgrade all Fluent Bit deployments to v4.2.0 / v4.1.1 / v4.0.12  or latest version. 

Here are some recommendations below  

  • Avoid using dynamic or untrusted tags in configuration for routing or file naming. 
  • Always set explicit fixed Path or File parameters in out_file outputs to prevent path traversal. 
  • Ensure forward inputs use both Shared_Key and Security.Users for proper authentication enforcement. 
  • Limit network access to Fluent Bit instances to trusted sources only. 
  • Run Fluent Bit with least privilege and restrict filesystem and configuration file write permissions. 
  • Monitor logs and telemetry for abnormal tag values or unexpected log routing changes. 

Conclusion: 
The Fluent Bit vulnerabilities enable attackers to hide activity, corrupt evidence and even gain direct control of cloud workloads.

This puts cloud systems at risk because security teams may not see the real activity happening inside their environment.

Organizations using Fluent Bit should patch immediately, restrict network access and enforcing strong authentication and least‑privilege deployment as urgent priorities to reduce the risk of remote takeover and systemic observability compromise.

Technical Summary

Recommendations 

Update Ivanti Endpoint Manager to the following versions when available: 

  • 2024 SU4 for high-severity vulnerabilities (targeted release November 12, 2025) 
  • 2024 SU5 for SQL injection vulnerabilities (scheduled Q1 2026) 

Patches are currently under development, here are some mitigations below to protect the environment  

  • Use Ivanti EPM 2024 SU3 SR1 to reduce the risk associated with the insecure deserialization vulnerability.  
  • Limit access to the EPM Core server to local administrators only. 
  • Use a firewall with a strict whitelisting configuration to block remote access. 
  • Avoid importing untrusted configuration files into the EPM Core server. 
  • Remove the reporting database user from the EPM configuration to mitigate the SQL injection vulnerabilities. But this action will disable reporting functionality, as the reporting database user is required to run reports. 

Conclusion: 
These vulnerabilities pose a significant threat to organizations relying on Ivanti Endpoint Manager for enterprise device management, potentially enabling privilege escalation, remote code execution, and unauthorized data access. Enterprises are strongly urged to implement Ivanti’s recommended mitigations without delay to reduce immediate risk. Additionally, organizations should prepare for the timely deployment of the upcoming security updates as they become available. Proactive action is essential to maintaining the security and integrity of endpoint management infrastructure.

Recommendations

Update Kibana and Elasticsearch immediately to the following versions 

  • Kibana/Elasticsearch: v8.18.8, v8.19.5, v9.0.8, v9.1.5 or the latest version. 

If unable to update immediately you can follow some workarounds below 

  • For the CVE-2025-25009, For versions >= 7.12 to < 9.0 users can set “discover:searchFieldsFromSource: true” in Advanced Settings and there are no workarounds for 9.0+. 
  • For the CVE-2025-25017, users can disable Vega visualizations but note that this will disable all Vega charts in Kibana. 
  • For the CVE-2025-37727, users can set “xpack.security.audit.logfile.events.emit_request_body” to “false”. 

Conclusion: 
The Elastic security update addresses severe vulnerabilities in Kibana and Elasticsearch, including high-severity XSS issues that could enable attackers to compromise dashboards, steal data, or escalate privileges.

Although no exploitation has been reported but these vulnerabilities need immediate patching. Immediate action is essential to maintain system integrity and protect sensitive data in monitoring and logging environments.

Patch Now! Claude Code Vulnerabilities Allow Unauthorized Command Execution, CVEs Affect AI Security Foundations 

Summary 

Anthropic’s Claude Code gained traction as a powerful AI coding assistant and promises developers a safe and streamlined way to build with Claude’s capabilities. But recently two high-severity vulnerabilities have been discovered in Claude Code, Anthropic’s AI-powered coding assistant. These flaws allow attackers to escape security restrictions and execute arbitrary system commands.

AI coding assistant was meant to enforce restrictions but unknowingly reveals how to bypass them. Threat researchers from Cymulate discovered two high-severity vulnerabilities in Claude Code, which were quickly addressed by the team.

These issues allowed me to escape its intended restrictions and execute unauthorized actions, all with Claude’s own help.

Technical Summary 

CVE-2025-54794 – Directory Restriction Bypass  

Claude Code tried to keep file access safe by only allowing work in certain folders. But it used a weak method to check file paths it just checked if the file name started with an allowed folder name. An attacker could create a folder with a similar name (like /tmp/allowed_dir_malicious) and trick Claude into thinking it was safe.

This could allow attackers to reach outside the safe folder, read secret files or even access system settings. Using symbolic links, attackers could also jump to important files that should never be touched. 

CVE-2025-54795 – Command Injection 

Claude only allows certain commands, like echo or ls, to run. But there was a mistake in how it cleaned user input. Attackers could hide harmful commands inside allowed ones. Example – echo “\”; <MALICIOUS_COMMAND>; echo \”” tricks Claude into running the attacker’s command between two harmless echo commands. 

Even worse, Claude helped improve these attack attempts. When a try failed, the attacker asked Claude why it didn’t work. Claude explained the problem and suggested fixes leading to successful attacks.

This vulnerability exploits a weakness in how Claude handles whitelisted command strings. Improper input sanitization allows attackers to inject arbitrary shell commands using echo, bypassing any user prompt or approval. 

  1. Exploitation Steps (PoC) 

Step 1 – Try a basic payload 

echo “test”; ls -la ../restricted (This gets flagged by Claude, and it asks for user confirmation) 

Step 2 – Refined working payload

echo “\”; ls -la ../restricted; echo \”” 

Claude executes this without a prompt

Lists a directory (../restricted) outside the current working directory, which should not be accessible. 

Step 3 – Execute arbitrary system command (e.g., launch Calculator) 

echo “\”; open -a Calculator; echo \”” 

This launches the Calculator app without any user approval

  1. Why Did This Work? 
  1. Improper Input Escaping: 
    Claude Code embeds user input into echo “<input>“ but doesn’t properly sanitize or escape the contents. 
  1. Payload Explains the Exploit: 
  • echo “\”; → closes the initial string 
  • COMMAND → injects and executes arbitrary command 
  • ; echo \”” → reopens the string to make it appear valid 
  • Claude sees this as just another harmless echo command 
  • Since echo is whitelisted, it runs automatically 
  • The attacker’s payload slips through the gap and executes 
  • If the Claude Code is running with higher privileges, attackers can perform Local Privilege Escalation (LPE) 

Remediation

  • Update immediately Claude   

For CVE-2025-54794 → Update to v0.2.111 or later 

For CVE-2025-54795 → Update to v1.0.20 or later 

  • Check logs and systems where Claude was used for suspicious behavior.  
  • Don’t allow untrusted files or user input into Claude’s coding environment. 

Conclusion: 
These vulnerabilities highlight a growing concern in AI-assisted development, the AI’s ability to assist malicious users. Claude Code not only allowed abuse through technical flaws, but also helped attackers refine and improve their exploitation strategy. 

Organizations leveraging AI in development pipelines must apply the same rigor used for traditional tools, enforce strict input validation, isolate environments and assume AI can be misled or exploited. 

Anthropic’s security and engineering teams has been fast with their professional response and smooth coordination during disclosure.

Overview 

This is a type confusion flaw in Chrome’s V8 JavaScript engine allows arbitrary code execution and it’s actively being exploited in the wild. 

The vulnerability was discovered by Clément Lecigne of Google’s Threat Analysis Group (TAG) on June 25, 2025, and a temporary mitigation was pushed on June 26, 2025. This internal discovery highlights the ongoing security monitoring efforts within Google’s infrastructure.

The mitigation measure passed through a configuration change pushed to all stable channel users across all platforms.
